Mother’s Day with Tara Ghazanfar

March 25, 2022By joy asfar

Meet Tara, creative director and founder of accessories brand Tara Zadeh, Tara is the mother of 2 boys. Head of Community at By Rotation, safe to say Tara is the cool mom around town. We sat down with Tara for Mother's Day in the UK.

As of a mother of 2, how are you beginning the mornings to start the day off right?

At 8am once my 2 year old son is at the nursery and my 1 month old baby is sleeping I take a good 30 mins to 45mins in the bath room to shower, put a mask on both my hair and my face, then I do my skincare routine which consist of several steps and I finish by a light makeup. I enjoy taking care of my skin, my hair and my face at the moment because I am far from being comfortable in my body at the moment and for a little while, so this is a way for me to still feel good.

What is your best advice for someone looking to be more considerate of our natural world at this time?

Dress more consciously, think about what you buy. Be curious. I won’t lie and say I don’t buy fast fashion because I still do ( have a soft spot for Zara) but I have tremendously cut down. Try and pick natural and organic fibres as much as possible and buy clothes that you really love.  A no brainer is to give up single use plastic or at least reduce it. Reduce your energy consumption by doing simple changes at home like switching off the lights when you leave a room. My husband recently replaced all lightbulbs with low energy LED lights in our home.

What are life’s small pleasures for you right now?

SLEEP and a lymphatic drainage massage once a week.

Do you have any health or wellness tips that you are following after the recent birth of your second son?

I have a smoothie every morning, it’s an excellent way to keep your energy levels up and get in tons of great nutrition in one go. It is also great if you are breastfeeding as it can increase your milk supply. My favourites are a super green smoothie and a blueberry lactation smoothie.

How are you winding down at the end of the day when the boys are asleep?

I have a snack in the tv room and watch the new season of Marvellous Mrs Maisel.

What does sustainability mean to you?

I would say trying to pick the smarter choice for the environment. One step at a time, one part of your life at a time. For a year now, I tend to rent outfits for special occasions rather than buy a dress that I will end up wearing once or twice. My skincare products, I now only buy products that either are made out of recycled material or products that can be refilled.
